Radiator - 1.25L-1.4L Zetec-SE (Sigma) > < Thermostat - 1.25L-1.4L Zetec-SE (Sigma)
Engine Cooling - Water Pump—1.25L/1.4L Zetec-SE (Sigma) Fiesta 1996 (08/1995-02/2002)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.

  1. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.

  1. Detach the coolant expansion tank.
    1. Remove the coolant expansion tank retaining screw.
    1. Detach the coolant expansion tank from the supporting bracket and secure it to one side.

  1. De-tension and remove the drive belt.
    1. Turn the belt tensioner counterclockwise.
    1. Remove the drive belt.

  1. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

  1. Remove the generator lower bolt.

  1. Remove the generator bolt.

  1. Remove the generator.
  1. Remove the water pump pulley.

  1. Remove the idler pulley.

  1. Remove the timing belt upper cover retaining bolts.

  1. Remove the timing belt upper cover (cover shown removed for clarity).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Protect the timing belt and lower cover from contamination by the coolant.
    Remove the water pump.
    • Discard the gasket.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Install a new water pump gasket.

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Refill and bleed the cooling system.
