STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the following, in order:

  • condition of the air intake circuit;
  • that there are no faults in the air filter
  • the seal of the diesel pipes
  • no water, petrol, paraffin or dirt in the fuel tank and filter
  • battery earth terminal fastening
Move on to Step1. Fault in the air intake circuit1. Renew the air intake circuit
2. Air filter blocked2. Replace the filter element
3. Leaks from diesel pipes3. Eliminate the leaks
4. Water, petrol, paraffin or dirt found to be present.4. Clean the tank and pipes and replace the filter element
5. Battery earth terminal insecure5. Restore the correct earth lead fastening
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the diagnostic equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the diagnostic socket.Check:

  • that there are no errors in the control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. Error detected in the control unit1. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2. Parameters not plausible2. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2ROAD TEST USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Carry out a road test reproducing the conditions in which the fault occurs, keeping the diagnostic equipment connected.Check:

  • that there are no errors in the control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. Error detected in the control unit1. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2. Parameters not plausible2. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
3. No communication with the control unit3. Restore the connection between the engine management control unit and the diagnostic connector
3CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer presentFault persists control unit defective

Replace the engine management control unit

See in Op. 1060G80 Diesel electronic injection system CONTROL UNIT - R.R.

2.0 TB, 2.4 20V, 3.0 V6

STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

First, check:

  • condition of the air filter;
  • battery correctly fastened to earth;

    (Wiring Diagram ) E1010 POWER SUPPLY

Move on to Step1. Filter element dirty, damaged or not correctly fitted

1. Replace or restore the correct filter element fitting

See in Op. 1048A14 air cleaner filtering element - replace.

2. Fastening to earth incofrect2. Restore wiring
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the diagnostic test equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the tester input.Check:

  • that there are no faults in the engine management control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. "Fuel system" error detected1. Continue following the instructions in Table Z050
2. "Upstream Lambda sensor" error detected2. Continue following the instructions in Table Z056
3. Another error detected in the control unit3. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
4. Parameter not consistent4.

  • that there are no faults in the engine management control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. "Fuel system" error detected1. Continue following the instructions in Table Z050
2. "Upstream Lambda sensor" error detected2. Continue following the instructions in Table Z056
3. The sudden onset of another error in the control unit is detected3. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
4. Parameter not consistent4. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
3FUEL PRESSURE CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the fuel supply pressure, if necessary on the road (to reproduce the conditions in which the problem occurs)

See in Op. 0510C10 FUEL SYSTEM - Check DELIVERY PRESSURE

Move on to Step1. Pressure not correct: obstructions in the fuel supply pipe1. Remove the obstructions in the fuel pipe, replace it if necesary
2. Pressure not correct: petrol pump damaged

2. Replace the petrol pump assembly

See in Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY complete with level gauge - R.R.

4AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Road test the vehicle, checking that the irregular behaviour does not occur when the air conditioning is switched on or offMove on to StepFault only present with the air conditioning switched onContinue following the instructions in Table L010
5CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer presentFault persists control unit defective

Replace the control unit

See in Op. 1056B52 Air flow meter ELECTRONIC MODULE - R.R.
