ENGINE NOT RUNNING SMOOTHLY (NOT FIRING PROPERLY)

2.4 JTD 10V

Prolonged performance reductions occur under constant load and speed conditions.

STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the following, in order:

  • no leaks in fuel circuit;
  • condition of the air intake circuit;
  • no obstructions in the catalytic converter;
  • no water in the diesel filter
Move on to Step1. Leaks in fuel circuit1. Remove water from diesel fuel
2. Fault in the air intake circuit2. Renew the air intake circuit
3. Obstruction in the catalytic converter3. Replace the catalytic converter
4. Water in diesel filter4. Clean the tank and replace the filter
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the diagnostic equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the diagnostic socket.Check:

  • that there are no errors in the control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. Error detected in the control unit1. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2. Parameters not plausible2. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2ROAD TEST USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Carry out a road test keeping the diagnostic equipment connected.

Make sure that the conditions in which the problem occurs are reproduced

Check:

  • that there are no errors in the control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. The sudden onset of errors in the control unit is detected1. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2. Parameters off the scale2. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
3BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check that the pedal switch is working properly

(Wiring Diagram ) E5050 DIESEL ENGINE ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

Move on to Step1. Brake pedal does not return1. Eliminate the cause of the sticking
2. Switch operation faulty2. Replace the switch
3. Wiring short circuited (intermittent)

3. Eliminate the cause of the problem

(Wiring Diagram ) E5050 DIESEL ENGINE ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT

4CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer present

2.0 TB, 2.4 20V, 3.0 V6

Prolonged performance reductions occur under constant load and speed conditions.

STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

First, check:

  • condition of the air filter;
  • the condition of the air intake circuit;
Move on to Step1. Filter blocked

1. Replace the filter element

See in Op. 1048A14 air cleaner filtering element - replace.

2. Air intake circuit faulty2. Eliminate the fault
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the diagnostic test equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the tester input.Check:

  • that there are no faults in the engine management control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. "Fuel system" error detected1. Continue following the instructions in Table Z050
2. "Misfire" error detected2. Continue following the instructions in Table Z053
3. Another error detected in the control unit3. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
4. Parameter not consistent4. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2ROAD TEST USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Carry out a road test reproducing the conditions in which the fault occurs, keeping the diagnostic equipment connected.Check:

  • that there are no faults in the engine management control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. "Fuel system" error detected1. Continue following the instructions in Table Z050
2. "Misfire" error detected2. Continue following the instructions in Table Z053
3. The sudden onset of another error is detected3. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
4. Parameters not consistent4. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
3FUEL PRESSURE ROAD TESTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Carry out a road test and check the fuel supply pressure < R1 > in the conditions in which the problem occurs

See in Op. 0510C10 FUEL SYSTEM - Check DELIVERY PRESSURE

Move on to Step1. Fuel pressure too low: pipes obstructed1. Eliminate the constrictions, replace the pipes if necessary
2. Fuel pressure too low: pump defective

2. Replace the fuel pump assembly

See in Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY complete with level gauge - R.R.

4CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer presentFault persists control unit defective

Replace the control unit

See in Op. 1056B82 Injection/ignition system CONTROL UNIT (one) - R.R.
