ENGINE NOT RUNNING SMOOTHLY WHILST ACCELERATING

2.4 JTD 10V

There are falls in performance during acceleration

STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the following, in order:

  • condition of the air intake circuit;
  • that there are no faults in the air filter
  • the seal of the diesel pipes
  • the accelerator pedal travel
  • no water, petrol, paraffin or dirt in the fuel tank and fuel filter
Move on to Step1. Fault in the air intake circuit1. Renew the air intake circuit
2. Air filter blocked2. Replace the filter element
3. Leaks from diesel pipes3. Eliminate the leaks
4. Accelerator pedal does not complete its full travel4. Eliminate the cause of the problem
5. Water, petrol, paraffin or dirt found to be present5. Clean the tank and pipes and replace the filter element
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Connect the diagnostic equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the diagnostic socket.Check:

  • that there are no errors in the control unit;
  • parameter plausibility.
Move on to Step1. Error detected in the control unit1. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2. Parameters not plausible2. 1. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2EGR AND TURBOCHARGER REGULATION CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Keep the diagnostic equipment (Examiner or other instruments) connected to the diagnostic socket.

Move on to Step1. EGR solenoid valve not working

1. Check the continuity of the wiring < R1 > if necessary, replace the solenoid valve < R2 >

2. Turbo regulator solenoid valve not working

2. Check the continuity of the wiring < R1 > if necessary, replace the solenoid valve < R2 >

3. Actuator not working properly3. Check the condition of the vacuum circuit, if necessary, replace the damaged components
3ROAD TEST USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Carry out a road test reproducing the conditions in which the fault occurs, keeping the diagnostic equipment connected.Check:

  • that there are no errors in the control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step1. Error detected in the control unit1. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2. Parameters not plausible2. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
3. No communication with the control unit3. Restore the connection between the engine management control unit and the diagnostic connector
4TURBOCHARGER CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the turbocharger operation as described in < R1 >

Continue following the instructions in the test 1064BA Check the supercharging pressure

Move on to StepTurbocharger faulty

Replace the turbocharger

5CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer presentFault persists control unit defective

Replace the engine management control unit
