EXTERIOR LAMPS - Indicators / Hazard Warning Lamps
DESCRIPTION
The indicators are controlled from the steering column switch and operate when the ignition switch is in position ’II’.
The hazard lamp switch is located to the right of the steering column, adjacent the rear fog lamp switch. Hazard operation is not dependent on the position of the ignition switch. When the hazard switch is depressed, both left and right hand indicator lamps flash.
OPERATION
Feed from the positive battery terminal is connected to the engine compartment fuse box (C1217-1) by a brown wire. Power flows through fusible link 5 and fuse 5, which are connected in parallel. Fusible link 5 (C570-2) provides a feed to the ignition switch (C28-1) on a brown wire. Fuse 5 (C574-3) provides a permanent battery feed to the hazard warning switch (C96-7) on a brown/purple wire.
Indicators
With the ignition switch in position ’II’, power flows across the ignition switch (C90-1) to fuse 17 of the passenger compartment fuse box (C581-13) on a white wire. Fuse 17 (C581-14) is connected to the hazard warning switch (C96-8) by a green wire. With the hazard warning switch in the off position, power flows through the switch (C96-5) and up to the flasher unit (C536-6) on a light green wire. The flasher unit is earthed (C536-4) on a black wire. With the flasher unit energised, a feed (C536-8) is sent to the column switch (C36-3) on a light green/brown wire.
