Freelander System Description and Operation
AIR CONDITIONING
82-16
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
Evaporator Temperature Sensor
1 Refrigerant pressure sensor
2 Air conditioning switch
3 Evaporator temperature sensor
The evaporator temperature sensor is a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) encapsulated thermistor installed
in the air outlet side of the evaporator. The evaporator temperature sensor is connected to the instrument pack, and
the signal is relayed to the ECM from the instrument pack via the CAN Bus.
The temperature signal is used to prevent the air conditioning system from operating when the evaporator is frozen.
Frosting of the evaporator cooling fins will cause a reduction in the effectiveness of the cooling system.
