Friendly Disarm
A friendly disarm function is available, to start the engine when the vehicle is passively immobilized. The function operates when the ignition is switched to position II and the remote handset is within 70 mm of the transponder antenna.
The transponder will generate a magnetic field which causes the remote handset to transmit a re-mobilization signal. The signal is received by the CCU which allows the engine to be started. If a valid signal is not received from the remote handset within one minute of the ignition being switch to position II, the CCU will stop the transponder antenna generating the magnetic field until the ignition is turned off and then on again.
Passive Immobilization
Passive immobilization is achieved by turning off the ignition and opening the drivers door or turning off the ignition and the ignition not being sensed for approximately five minutes.
Passive immobilization disables the engine crank operation and prevents the sending of the coded signal from the CCU to the engine control module. The alarm LED on the instrument pack will slow flash. If the ignition is on with the engine immobilized, the alarm LED will be permanently illuminated.
If mobilization of the engine occurs by an unauthorized procedure and the ignition is not sensed within approximately five minutes, then the passive immobilization will become active and the engine will be disabled.
A passively immobilized vehicle may be mobilized by pressing the unlock button on the remote hand set or using the Emergency Key Access (EKA) feature.
