Removing
Removing
–  Bring the lock carrier into the servicing position → Body work; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Remove timing belt guard - top part.
   
–  Position camshaft sprocket to TDC marking of cylinder 1 by rotating at crankshaft. Marking on camshaft sprocket must be flush with the marking on the cylinder head cover.
–  Remove cylinder head cover.
–  Slacken tensioning device and take timing belt off camshaft sprocket.
–  Then, turn the crankshaft back slightly.
–  Remove the camshaft sprocket. Hold the camshaft sprocket tight with counterholder -MP 1-216- to slacken the bolt.
–  Remove the housing for the hall sender.
–  Remove the washer and trim for the hall sender.

–  Clean the drive chain and the chain wheels of the camshafts opposite the two arrows on the valve covers and mark the installed position using a coloured marker.
  Note
t  Do not mark the chain with a punch mark, notch or any other similar system!
t  The distance between the two arrows or coloured markings is 16 rollers on the drive chain.

–  Secure the camshaft adjuster using the holder for the chain tensioner -3366-.
  Note
Excessively strong tightening up of the chain tensioner can cause damage to the camshaft adjuster.

–  First remove bearing caps 3 and 5 of the inlet and outlet camshaft.
–  Remove the double bearing cap.
–  Remove both bearing caps on the chain sprockets of the inlet and outlet camshaft.
–  Release the fixing screws of the camshaft adjuster.
–  Loosen and remove bearing caps 2 and 4 for the inlet and outlet camshaft, alternately and crosswise.
–  Remove the inlet and outlet camshaft with camshaft adjuster with the holder for the chain tensioner -3366-.
