Setting the shift mechanism
Setting the shift mechanism
The following are required for correct setting of the shift mechanism:
t  Operating and transmission elements of the shift mechanism are in perfect condition.
t  Shift mechanism operates freely.
t  Gearbox, clutch and clutch control in perfect condition.
l  Gearbox in Neutral.
–  Carefully lever off the cover from the centre console.
   
–  Turn cover inside out.
–  Carefully open clamp -arrow- and pull off gearshift knob together with the cover.

–  Unscrew the cover for the shift housing -arrows-.

–  Measure the gap between body (body) and shift mechanism.
l  The gap -a- must be 43 mm.
If this is not the case, set gap -a- as follows:
–  Loosen the screw -arrow- of the push rod.
l  The push rod - rear can be moved easily onto the push slide of the shift mechanism.
–  Set dimension -a- by moving the push rod - rear.
–  Tighten screw -arrow- of pushrod with tightening torque.

–  Loosen screw -arrow- of shift rod.
l  The shift rod/shift mechanism joint should move freely.

–  Set the shift lever so that it is pointing slightly to the right of the direction of travel -arrow- and is set back slightly.
–  Tighten screw of shift rod with tightening torque.
   The shift lever setting should not be changed while doing this.
Check for proper operation
l  Shift lever must be in Neutral, in the gate of 3rd/4th gear.
–  Depress clutch.
–  Shift through all gears several times. Pay particular attention to proper operation of the reverse gear lock.
l  Shift lever must shift automatically from reverse gear gate to the 3rd/4th gear gate.
If a gear catches when engaged again, set the shift mechanism again.
–  Install the cover for the gearbox housing.
–  Mount the gearshift knob with cover.

Tightening torques
