SteeringOil pressure, check
Inspect Connect KM-354-B to the oil circuit pressure line.
Important! Oil runs out - place the collecting tray underneath. Correct the oil level before checking the oil pressure- see operation "Hydraulic Equipment Filling and Venting".
Inspect Start motor. In the middle position of the steering the pressure measuring unit shows with an open shut-off valve a pressure of only a few bar. On turning the wheel to the left or the right the pressure climbs and reaches its highest level at each end stop - see "Technical Data- Hydraulic Steering Gear". A slight pressure difference between the left and right end stops is of no significance. Notice: Never pull steering wheel longer than 10 seconds against the stop. |

Measure Read off maximum pressure exactly with measurement gauge's (KM-354-B) shut-off valve open and with steering wheel turned to right or left stop. Then, close shut-off valve, steering in mid-position, and read off maximum pressure.
Important! With the shut-off valve closed the pump likewise works at the highest pressure. With the shut-off valve only momentarily closed (at most 10 seconds), read off the manometer. Carry out three measurements. The average value gives the highest pressure. If the highest pressure with the shut-off valve is clearly greater than at the steering wheel stop: the hydraulics of the steering gear is defective. If the highest pressure with the shut-off valve closed is smaller than that given in the Technical Data: the power steering pump is defective.
Remove, Disconnect Remove KM-354-B from the oil circuit pressure line. Oil runs out - place the collecting tray underneath. Install pressure line on power steering pump - tightening torque 28 Nm/20.5 lbf. ft.
Inspect Correct the oil level - see operation "Hydraulic Equipment Filling and Venting".
