Circuit/System Description
Voltage for the accent lamps is supplied from the body control
module (BCM). When a door is opened, a signal is applied to the
BCM. The BCM then applies voltage through the accent lamps circuit,
illuminating the accent lamps listed below:
•
Accent lamp - driver
door
•
Accent lamp - passenger
door
•
Accent lamp - console shift
lever
Conditions for Running the DTC
Driver or passenger door in open position.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The BCM detects a short to ground on the accent lamps control
circuit.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The BCM will not illuminate the Interior Door Handle
Backlight.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer
exists.
Ignition ON, command the Accent Lighting 1 test with a scan
tool. The accent lamps should turn ON and OFF when changing between
the commanded states.
Circuit/System Testing
1.
Ignition OFF, disconnect the
harness connectors at the appropriate inoperative accent
lamp.
2.
Disconnect the negative
terminal of the C1 Battery.
3.
Test for less than 5 Ω
between the appropriate accent lamp ground circuit harness
connector terminal 2 and ground.
⇒
If greater than the specified range, test the
ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
4.
Reconnect the negative
terminal of the C1 Battery.
5.
Connect a test lamp between
the appropriate accent lamp control circuit harness connector
terminal 1 and ground.
6.
Command with the scan tool the
Accent Lighting 1 test ON and OFF. The accent lamps should turn ON
and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
⇒
If the test lamp is always ON, test the control
circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal,
replace the K9 Body Control Module.
⇒
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control
circuit for open/high resistance or short to ground. If the circuit
tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
7.
If all circuit test normal,
replace the appropriate inoperative accent lamp.
