Refitting toothed timing belt.
Check toothed belt condition visually every 60.000 km and replace whenever the belt:
- is soaked in oil or coolant;
- shows signs of cracks or broken teeth;
- is frayed or teeth profiles are worn.
The toothed belt should be replaced every 105,000 km or during service operations involving belt removal, at mileages in excess of 30,000 km.
Tensioning toothed timing belt
- Fit part 1860745200 to tool 1860745100 and position weight at a distance of 120 mm along calibrated rod and lock.
Apply the resulting tool to the mobile belt tensioner as shown in figure. Adjust joint to adjust calibrated rod to a horizontal position. Then tighten joint retaining screw.
Remove the flywheel retainer, then settle the toothed belt by turning crankshaft through two revolutions in the direction of rotation. Tighten mobile belt tensioner retaining nut.
During this final stage, the calibrated rod may move from its horizontal position. In this case, adjust joint again to restore calibrated rod to its original position and repeat the operation
Tighten mobile belt tensioner retaining bolt to the specified torque and remove tensioning tools. Reposition flywheel retainer 1860766000, then position coolant pump - alternator drive pulley and tighten to torque; remove flywheel retainer and refit parts removed previously.
