DRAINING SYSTEM
Before carrying out any operation that could lead to loss of coolant R 134 A, drain air conditioning system.
When draining the system, wear gloves and goggles to protect against harmful contact with jets of R 134 A.
To help drain coolant from the vehicle air conditioning system more effectively, operate system (and car engine) for 10-15 minutes.
To drain the vehicle air conditioning system use a Cleaner 134 device made by CF and proceed as follows:
- Unscrew plug of needle valve (low pressure side) at the end of a pipe welded to the line connecting the evaporator to the compressor.
- Unscrew plug of needle valve (high pressure side) located at the end of a pipe which forms part of a fitting at the end of the line connecting the condenser to the dehydrating filter.
- Fit quick-release fitting at ends of blue (low pressure) and red (high pressure) hoses of Cleaner 134 device to above needle valves. Carry out operations to recover and recycle coolant described and illustrated from page 38 onward.
NOTE For greater safety, device quick-release hose fittings and needle valve fittings are of different diameter: the low pressure fittings are wider than the high pressure fittings. Before fitting quick-release fittings to needle valves, move knurled ring indicated by arrow upward.
