GEAR ENGAGEMENT OR RELEASE DIFFICULT

It is sometimes difficult to engage the gears; there is also a (grating) noise coming from the area of the gearbox

0	PRELIMINARY CHECKS	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check that the clutch is correctly released: with the engine running press the clutch pedal and engage a gear	Move on to Step 1	The gearbox always grates with any of the gears: the clutch does not disengage	Proceed as instructed in the See table E001 CLUTCH NOT RELEASING CORRECTLY

	Check the condition of the gear selection ball springs Op. 2110B MANUAL GEARBOX WITH DIFFERENTIAL GEARS AND SYNCHRONISERS	Move on to Step 2	Springs or balls damaged	Replace the affected parts.
2	SYNCHRONIZER RING CHECK	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Overhaul the gearbox Op. 2110B MANUAL GEARBOX WITH DIFFERENTIAL GEARS AND SYNCHRONISERS Check the synchronizer rings in particular: there should be no wear on the inner surfaces.	Move on to Step 3	Seals worn	Replace the synchronizers.
