WINDSCREEN WASH/WIPE - DESCRIPTION

1.2 8v, 1.6 16v, 1.3 JTD 16V, 1.9 JTD 8V, 1.9 DIESEL · from 10/2000, up to 10/2000

Description

The system operates with the ignition key turned ON.

The windscreen wiper system is activated by the steering column switch unit lever on the right of the steering wheel.

There are five different positions for this lever corresponding to:

  • windscreen wiper off (standstill);
  • intermittent operation (up to 4 types of intermittent function);
  • continuous fast operation (1st speed);
  • continuous fast operation (2nd speed);
  • temporary operation (unstable lever position, lever returns to neutral position when released and automatically deactivates the windscreen wiper.

The windscreen washer function is operated by pulling the lever gently towards the steering wheel: the windscreen washer pump is activated in this way; if the lever is kept in this position, the windscreen wiper comes on (continuous operation); when the lever is released, the windscreen wiper still works for a few strokes.

The operation of the windscreen wiper is regulated by an electronic device incorporated in the steering column switch unit.

It produces the intermittent operation and controls the operation of the actual windscreen wiper motor.

The windscreen wash/wipe circuit is protected by a fuse and is operated by a relay both in the junction unit under the dashboard.

Description

The system operates with the ignition key turned ON.

The windscreen wiper system is activated by the steering column switch unit lever on the right of the steering wheel.

There are five different positions for this lever corresponding to:

  • windscreen wiper off (standstill);
  • intermittent operation (up to 4 types of intermittent function);
  • continuous fast operation (1st speed);
  • continuous fast operation (2nd speed);

The operation of the windscreen wiper is governed by an electronic device, inside the steering wheel stalk unit, which generates the intermittent function and controls the operation of the actual windscreen wiper motor.

The windscreen wash/wipe circuit is protected by a fuse and is operated by a relay both in the junction unit under the dashboard.

1.4 8v, 1.6 16v, 1.3 JTD 16V, 1.9 JTD 8V · from 12/03 · MY 2005

The system is operated with the key ON.

The windscreen wiper system is operated by the stalk switch located to the right of the steering wheel.

This stalk may be moved to five different positions that correspond to the following functions:

- windscreen wiper off (stationary);

- intermittent operation (up to four types of intermittent setting are present);

- continuous fast operation (1st speed);

- continuous fast operation (2nd speed);

- temporary operation (unstable stalk position), stalk retursn to neutral position when released and automatically deactivates the windscreen wiper.

The windscreen wiper function can be deactivated by pulling the stalk slightly toward the steering wheel: the windscreen washer pump is then operated. The wiper comes on too if the stalk remains pulled back (continuous operation). The wiper continues to work for a few sweeps when the stalk is released.

Windscreen wiper operation is governed by an electronic device built into the stalk unit. This generates the intermittent function and controls operation of the wiper motor.

The windscreen wash/wipe circuit is protected by a fuse and controlled by a relay in the junction unit under the dashboard.
