1CHECK ON COMPRESSOR OPERATION BY MANUAL CONTROLAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
  • at the climate control node;
  • at the CAN line;

Check that the ambient temperature is at least 5 °C.

With the engine started and the compressor on (check that the snowflake symbol lights up), set the temperature to maximum cold LO and the distribution to the front position.

Using the diagnostic equipment check that the frost sensor gives a reading of above 3.5°C, also check that the instrument does not show any short circuit for the compressor circuit. In these conditions, check that the compressor comes on by opening the bonnet and taking a look.

2CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check that there are no errors:

  • at the engine management control unit

3CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

Keeping the Examiner diagnostic equipment connected, check the following at the engine management node:

  • that there are no errors at the compressor operating relay.
  • that there are no errors at the climate control system pressure sensor
  • that there are no faults in the front sensor
  • that there are no faults in the outside temperature sensor

With the engine switched off, remove the control from the dashboard support and disconnect the cable connector from the control and reconnect it correctly for check for any false contacts.Move on to Step 6Electrical connections looseRenew the electrical connections
6CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION OF FANAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check for loose connections in the electrical wiring. Disconnect/reconnect the connection to the engine support. Check that it rotates at all speeds by activating them using the switch. If it does not rotate at the maximum speed, check the vehicle fuse. If the defect persists, before replacing it, provide a direct battery supply and check that it rotates at maximum speed.Move on to Step 7Electrical connections looseRenew the electrical connections

7CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION OF CERAMIC RESISTORAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check that the fan is working at the maximum speed: if it only works at the maximum speed, the resistor should be replaced. Check whether the resistor thermal fuse is broken by measuring the electrical continuity at the thermal fuse securing pointsEnd of diagnosisFailed operation of ceramic resistorReplacement of ceramic resistor

1CHECK ON OPERATION OF COMPRESSOR BY CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM CONTROL UNITAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

Check that the ambient temperature is at least 5 °C and that the outside temperature sensor reading is more than 5 °C.

With the engine started and the compressor on (check that the snowflake symbol lights up), set the control unit to the AUTO position, the temperature to maximum cold LO and the distribution to the front position. Using the diagnostic equipment check that the front sensor reading is above 3.5°C, also check that the instrument does not show any short circuits for the compressor circuit.

In these conditions, check that the compressor comes on by opening the bonnet and taking a look.
