Diagram showing removal of drive belt pulley and loosening of belt tensioner fixing bolt
  1. undo the drive belt pulley fixing nut and remove the pulley;
  2. loosen the belt tensioner fixing bolt, then remove the actual belt.

Proceed with refitting the toothed belt, without tightening the belt tensioner bearing.

Check the timing:

  1. camshaft pulley: the reference should coincide with the projection on the sliding cam (completely raised) for the timing belt rear shield;
  2. crankshaft pinion: the fitting tab should coincide with the projection on the crankcase front cover.
