Connect a digital multimeter (set to read Ohm) between connector N91 pin 4 and connector M85 pin 21.
~ 0 Ω should be read.

Go to Step 2

If > 10 Ω is read, the connection is uncertain.

Restore correct connection (wiring diagram: E7040 "ELECTRONIC CLUTCH")
If the fault persists check power unit N91 and, if required, replace the actuator unit PROCEDURE OP. 1820E70

Disconnect solenoid valve L40 connector and turn the key to STOP. Connect a digital multimeter (set to read Ohm) between connector L40 pin 1 and earth.
~ 0 Ω should be read.

Perform the next check

If > 10 Ω is read, the connection is earthed

Restore correct connection (wiring diagram: E7040 "ELECTRONIC CLUTCH"

Disconnect solenoid valve L40 connection. Disconnect ECU M85 connection.
Connect a digital multimeter (set to read Ohm) between connector L40 pin 2 and connector M85 pin 26.
~ 0 Ω should be read.

Perform the next check

If > 10 Ω is read, the connection between solenoid valve L40 and ECU is uncertain.

Restore correct connection (wiring diagram: E7040 "ELECTRONIC CLUTCH")

Connect a digital multimeter (set to read Ohm) between connector L40 pin 2 and earth.
~ 0 Ω should be read.

End of test

If < 1 kΩ is read, solenoid valve L40 power wire is short circuited to earth.

Restore correct connection (wiring diagram: E7040 "ELECTRONIC CLUTCH") If the fault persists, check solenoid valve L40 and, if required, replace the actuator PROCEDURE OP. 1820E70 or check and, if required, replace ECU M85 PROCEDURE OP. 1820E62
