Whilst driving, especially on unmade roads, creaking can be heard coming from the rear suspension. This fault diagnosis can only be carried out after See table S15 RUMOROSITA in condizioni di marcia. Carry out the latter first.

If the problem is only on one side, carry out the checks and any necessary operations on the appropriate side only

	Having carried out the road test during the See table S15 RUMOROSITA in condizioni di marcia, a creaking/clicking noise was noticed coming from the back. 1	MOVING ELEMENTS CHECK	All OK	Problems met	Operation
	Check that the noise is not caused by the movement of the shock absorber upper buffer. It is located under the carpet in the luggage compartment, in the area of the wheel arch	End of diagnosis	The buffer is loose	Tighten the upper nut to torque so that the buffer no longer moves

	Check that there are no signs of rubbing or contact between the thrust washers and bushes See Test 4420DA Verifica gioco boccole sospensioni posteriori	Continue to Step 3	Signs of rubbing	Lubricate the elements with silicon grease

	Check that the dust cover is not rubbing against the shock absorber casing, by moving it pressing and releasing it above the shock absorber casing	Continue to Step 4	It is rubbing	Replace the end of travel buffer

	Position the vehicle on a two column lift and raise it. Check that the pipes or heat shields under the floor are not the cause of any noise Also check that the clips on the layout brackets are not the source of any noise See Test 4420A Verifica stato mollette su staffette di layout	Continue to Step 6	Pipes or heat shields not correctly fastened	Restore the correct fixing
			Pipes or heat shields not correctly fastened	Lubricate the handbrake cable

	Position the vehicle on a two column lift and raise it. Check under the floor that the pipes, handbrake cable and heat shields are not the source of any noise. 			Spring support rings do not conform	Replace the reaction plate
			Spring support rings do not conform	Fit the plate correctly
			Spring support rings do not conform	Replace the end of travel buffer
6	MOUNTINGS CHECK	All OK	Problems met	Operation
	Check that the mountings fastening the suspension to the bodyshell (at the shock absorber turrets) do not show signs of wear due to rubbing. The shock absorber has to be removed in order to check this Op. 4420A30	Continue to Step 7	Signs of tearing/damage to the mountings	Replace the components making sure that they are correctly positioned
7	SPRING CHECK	All OK	Problems met	Operation
	Check that there are no signs of rubbing on the suspension spring at its supports. Also check that the spring does not show signs of wear If the spring shows signs of abrasions, its mechanical properties could deteriorate as a result of oxidation	End of diagnosis	Spring worn	Replace the shock absorber spring Op. 4420D48
