DISPLAY SIGNALS ICE DANGER WITH HIGH OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE
The Instrument Panel Node receives outside temperature information from the Driver's Door Node which, in turn, receives the figure from the sensor on the moving part of the driver's door mirror.
| Results of the tests | ||||
| 1 | PRELIMINARY CHECK | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Check that the temperature value shown on the instrument panel display is plausible. Also check that when the NQS is switched off and then on again, the temperature value is plausible. | Continue to Step 17 | Implausible value. | Continue to Step 1 | |
| There are dashes in place of the temperature value on the display | Continue to Step 10 | |||
| The value is correct when the ignition is switched back on. | Continue to Step 9 | |||
| 2 | CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check, in the Instrument Panel Node ambient, that there are no errors and the outside temperature parameter is present. | Continue to Step 8 | Impossible to connect with the NQS | Continue to Step 3 | |
| Errors present. | Continue to Step 6 | |||
| Temperature parameter with incorrect values | Continue to Step 10 | |||
| 3 | ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY CHECK | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Check that the Instrument Panel Node electrical power supply is correct See E6020 AIR CONDITIONING | Continue to Step 4 | Positive and/or earth electrical power supply fault. | Positive and/or earth electrical power supply faulty. | |
| 4 | CHECK ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Check the wiring/electrical connections for the Instrument Panel Node, in particular making sure that each individual pin is correctly connected and inserted in its housing. | Continue to Step 5 | Wiring and/or electrical connections not working. | Restore the wiring and/or damaged electrical connections. | |
| 5 | CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Using the Examiner, check whether it is possible to connect with the Instrument Panel Node. | Continue to Step 2 | Impossible to connect with the control unit. | Replace the instrument panel control unit Op. 5560B11 | |
| 6 | ERRORS CHECK | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
Using the Examiner in the Instrument Panel Node ambient, check that one or more of the following errors is present:
| Continue to Step 8 | No additional information and/or BUS off detected | Continue to Step 7 | |
| EEPROM faulty | Replace the instrument panel control unit Op. 5560B11 | |||
| Outside air temperature sensor faulty | Continue to Step 10 | |||
| 7 | ERRORS CHECK | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| With the Examiner in Instrument Panel Node ambient, check that there are no CAN line and/or other component errors | End of diagnosis | CAN and/or other components faulty. | Continue according to the instructions for the diagnostic equipment. | |
| 8 | CHECK WITH ACTIVE DIAGNOSIS | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Using the Examiner in the active diagnosis ambient, check that the Autotest function is activated | Continue to Step 9 | The function in question is not controlled by active diagnosis. | Replace the instrument panel control unit Op. 5560B11 | |
| 9 | CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Using the Examiner diagnostic equipment, check the state of the network in the CAN information ambient. | Continue to Step 2 | Impossible to connect with the control units. | Continue according to the instructions for the diagnostic equipment. | |
| Network faulty. | Restore correct operation | |||
| 10 | CHECKING WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check, in the Driver's Door GE Procond Node ambient, that there are no errors and the outside temperature parameter value is present. | Continue to Step 17 | Impossible to connect with the NPG | Continue to Step 11 | |
| Errors present. | Continue to Step 14 | |||
| The temperature value is incorrect. | Continue to Step 16 | |||
| 11 | ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY CHECK | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Check that the electrical power supply for the Driver's Door Node is correct See E6020 AIR CONDITIONING | Continue to Step 12 | Positive and/or earth electrical power supply fault. | Replace the defective component (if a fuse is involved, search for the cause of the problem) | |
| 12 | CHECK ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Check the wiring/electrical connections between the Driver's Door Node and the temperature sensor, in particular that each pin is correctly connected and inserted in its housing. | Continue to Step 13 | Wiring and/or electrical connections not working. | Restore the wiring and/or damaged electrical connections. | |
| 13 | CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Using the Examiner, check that it is possible to connect to the Driver's Door Node. | Continue to Step 10 | Impossible to connect with the control unit. | Replace the Driver's Door Node control unit Op. 5505A42 | |
| 14 | ERRORS CHECK | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
Using the Examiner in the Driver's Door Node ambient, check that one or more of the following errors is present:
| Continue to Step 15 | No additional information and/or BUS off detected | Continue to Step 15 | |
| EEPROM faulty (internal fault) | Replace the driver's door control unit Op. 5505A42 | |||
| Outside air temperature sensor faulty | Continue to Step 16 | |||
| 15 | ERRORS CHECK | All OK | Problems met | Operation |
| Using the Examiner in the Driver's Door Node ambient, check that there are no CAN line and/or other component errors | End of diagnosis | CAN faulty. and/or other components. | Continue according to the instructions for the diagnostic equipment. | |
