STEERING RACK AND PINION

Service repair no - 57.25.01

Remove

WARNING: SRS procedures must be followed and all precautions observed. See RESTRAINT SYSTEMS, Precautions.

  1. Raise front of vehicle.

WARNING: Support on safety stands.

  1. Remove both front road wheels.
  2. Remove air cleaner. See ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - MEMS, Repairs.
  3. Remove steering column nacelle. See this section.
Steering rack and pinion – Remove steering column nacelle. See this section.
  1. Disconnect 2 multiplugs from indicator/headlamp switch.
Steering rack and pinion – Disconnect 2 multiplugs from indicator/headlamp switch.
  1. Disconnect multiplug from windscreen washer and wiper switch.
  2. Disconnect multiplug from rotary coupler.
Steering rack and pinion – Disconnect multiplug from rotary coupler.
  1. Disconnect multiplug from ignition/starter switch.
  2. Release carpet from around steering column.
