STALL TEST

  1. Check/top-up gearbox oil level.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to gearbox, do not carry out stall test for more than 10 seconds and do not move selector lever during test.

  1. Run engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
  2. Apply handbrake and securely chock all four wheels.
  3. Ensure all electrical loads are switched off.
  4. Fully apply the footbrake.

WARNING: Ensure that no personnel are in vicinity of vehicle, keep handbrake and footbrake fully applied during test.

  1. Select ’2’, depress accelerator fully for 6 to 8
  2. Repeat test with selector lever in ’1’, ’D4’ and ’R’ positions noting highest engine speed obtained.

CAUTION: Allow engine to idle for 2 minutes between tests.

  1. Compare stall speeds obtained in each of the 4 selector positions, speeds should all be the same and within the range specified: Stall speed = 2400 to 2800 rev/min
  2. If stall speeds are unequal, refer to Fault Table
  3. Upon completion, carry out gearbox pressure tests.

seconds and note highest engine speed obtained.

  1. Release accelerator, allow engine to idle for 2 minutes.
