Bellows on Steering Gear, Replace  

Object Number: 616191 Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove front axle body - see operation "Front Axle Body, Remove and Install" in group "E".  

Object Number: 616197 Size: DEFAULT  Measure   

Before removing tie rod end, measure exposed thread length (2).  

Object Number: 616191 Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Release lock nut and remove tie rod end (1) from tie rod. Release retaining bands and remove bellows (3) from tie rod and from steering gear housing.

Object Number: 616192 Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Slide new bellows over tie rod and fasten with new retaining straps to steering gear and tie rod.  

Object Number: 616201 Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

Ensure that bellows sits in groove (1) on tie rod side.  

Object Number: 616192 Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Install tie rod end on tie rod and counterhold with nut - tightening torque 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft. Note pre-measured exposed thread length.  

Install front axle body - see operation "Front Axle Body, Remove and Install" in group "E".  

Object Number: 616196 Size: DEFAULT  Inspect   

Check camber and toe-in, and adjust if necessary - see operation "Camber, Caster and Toe-in, Check" in group "E".
