Adjusting handbrake
  Note
The handbrake has to be adjusted when the brake calipers, brake discs or handbrake cables have been renewed.
Depending on equipment in vehicle, remove centre armrest → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
–  Remove cup holder or ashtray → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
–  Remove cover above compensator → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
t  Foot brake must be working properly.
t  Brake system must be bled.
t  Operate foot brake several times to seat brake pads in correct position.
t  Handbrake lever in rest position; handbrake not applied.
–  Take up slack in handbrake cables using adjustment nut -A-.
   
–  Screw adjustment nut -A- onto pull rod until levers on brake calipers are lifted away from stops -B-.
  Note
  N46-0325
The total distance -a- between lever -1- and stop -2- on both brake calipers must not exceed 1.5 mm.
–  Pull up and release handbrake lever several times.
  Note
Both wheels must turn freely after the handbrake lever is released.
–  Install cover above compensator → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
–  Install cup holder or ashtray → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
Depending on equipment in vehicle, install centre armrest → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
  Note
Due to the automatic adjustment of the rear brake, it is no longer necessary to re-adjust the handbrake after performing initial adjustment.
  Caution
Make sure that the brakes work properly before the vehicle is driven on the road.
