PARKING DEVICE NOT WORKING

The following message appears on the control panel: driving aid not available

The ultrasound distance detection system for parking provides the driver with information on distance while approaching obstacles behind the car.

The information of the presence and distance of an obstacle is transmitted to the driver by means of acoustic warnings whose frequency depends on the distance of the obstacle.

The distance measurement only takes place when the system is activated, whilst only the control unit microcontroller is operational in the inactive state.

the system is activated with the key ON and reverse engaged. The Parking Sensor Node receives a reversing signal from the Body Computer Node via the CAN line

Results of the tests
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

Connect a diagnostic tester (Examiner) and check the following data in CAN mode:

- no control unit inactive

- that there are no faulty control units

- no CAN line error Check that there are no faults in the parking sensor node

Move on to Step 2

1. Control unit inactive

2. Control unit error

3. Control units with CAN line error

1. Move on to Step 2

2. Continue as described by the diagnostic equipment

3. Repair any faults in the CAN line

2CHECKING TRAILER TOWINGAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the enablement is efficient when a trailer is connected to the tow hookMove on to Step 3Connection inefficient

Restore the correct wiring

See E3090 PARKING SENSOR

3CHECK CONTROL UNIT POWER SUPPLYAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

Check the parking sensor node power supply voltage is correct

See Test 5505AG

Move on to Step 4

1. Fuse blown

2. Power supply inefficient

3. Earth inefficient

1. Eliminate short circuits and then change fuse

2. Restore power supply

3. Restore earth connection

4REVERSING SWITCH CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

Check that the reversing switch is working properly

See E2022 REVERSING LIGHTS

Move on to Step 5

1. Reversing switch defective

2. Wiring from reversing switch to CPL interrupted

3. Wiring from CPL to NBC interrupted

4. Switch power supply interrupted

1. Replace the switch

2. Restore correct wiring

3. Restore correct wiring

4. Restore the power supply

5CHECK SYSTEM EFFICIENCYAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

Check the continuity/insulation of the ultrasound sensors circuit

Check that the ultrasound sensors power supply is correct

See Test 5580HB CHECK ON OPERATION OF PARKING SENSOR SYSTEM

End of diagnosis

1. Sensor wiring defective

2. Sensor power supply interrupted

3. Sensors defective

4. Parking sensor control unit defective

1. Restore correct wiring

See E3090 PARKING SENSOR

2. Restore correct power supply

3. Replace parking sensors

Op. 5580H36 PARKING SENSOR SYSTEM REAR SENSORS - R.R. WITH REAR BUMPER REMOVED

4. Replace parking sensors control unit

Op. 5580H10 PARKING OBSTACLE DETECTION DEVICE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT - R.R.
