DRIVER''S SIDE FRONT AIRBAG FAILURE

When applying this procedure, always consider the following:

Measurements cannot be carried out on the airbag wiring.
Begin testing the system with the vehicle appliances still connected.
The fault must be "Present" or "Present Intermittently" and not "Intermittent". In the event of an Intermittent fault, the Procedure is not applicable. Check the line where the fault was reported carefully.
Not all the simulation sensors are available (e.g. side impact sensors).

The airbag fault warning light is controlled by a dedicated connection to the airbag control unit Instrument Panel Node.

The airbag wiring is a safety component. If faults occur in the wires or connectors, all the wiring must be replaced.

1	ELECTRICAL CONNECTION CHECK	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Turn the key to OFF. Check the connector on the control unit is correctly connected See E7030 AIRBAG	Move on to Step 2	The connector is not correctly connected	Reconnect the connector correctly See E7030 AIRBAG Clear the errors using the diagnostic tester and proceed to step 5
2	CHECK CLOCK SPRING CONTACT	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Disconnect the airbag wiring clock spring contact and connect a dummy resistance in its place. Turn the key ON and activate communication with the diagnostic tester. Check whether the fault in the driver's side front airbag has become intermittent	Move on to Step 3	The fault is still present	Turn the key to OFF. Replace the facia wiring Op. 5505C34 INTERGRATED INSTRUMENT UNDER FACIA FRONT AIR BAG WIRING - R R Clear the errors using the diagnostic tester and proceed to step 5
3	CHECK DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Turn the key to OFF. Reconnect the clock spring contact to the airbag wiring. Disconnect the charge from the steering wheel and connect the dummy resistance in its place. Turn the key ON and activate communication. Check whether the fault in the driver's side front airbag is still intermittent	Move on to Step 4	The fault has become Present	Turn the key to OFF. Replace the clock spring Op. 5580C12 CLOCK SPRING FOR AIR BAG MODULE ON STEERING WHEEL R R Clear the errors using the diagnostic tester and proceed to step 5
4	REPLACE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Turn the key to OFF. Replace the explosive charge on the steering wheel Op. 5580C18 AIR BAG MODULE - R+R Clear the errors using the diagnostic tester	Move on to Step 5
5	CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check that the tester does not indicate other faults	End of diagnosis	The diagnostic tester reports other faults	Proceed as instructed in the See table K80 AIRBAG FAILURE WARNING LIGHT ON
