A hydraulic column jack supporting the automatic transmission, with the part number 1870600000 labeled.
  • secure mount 1870600000 to the automatic transmission and position on the hydraulic column jack;
Two close-up views showing bolts and nuts connecting the transmission to the engine block.
  • remove the bolt joining the transmission to the engine (left hand box);
  • unscrew nut retaining transmission to engine (right hand box);
  • move the automatic transmission-differential unit around to free it from the locating pins on the engine;

Take particular care when removing the transmission-differential unit from the engine. The main shaft to which the electromagnetic clutch is fitted will not hold the clutch in place if tilted too much during transmission removal.
Move the transmission sideways by a few centimetres and support the clutch to prevent accidental falls and avoid danger to personnel.
