CHECKS AND ADJUSTMENTS

Checking injection pump advance

Remove the following components:
  • oil vapour separator;
  • fuel delivery line to injectors.
Remove plug on lock-nut (arrowed).

Tighten tool 1865090000 with centesimal gauge into the threaded socket. Bring stylus into contact with distributor piston crown.

Turn crankshaft until tool 1860863000 fits into hole on engine flywheel.

NOTE Check that pump pinion is on measurement point. Otherwise turn crankshaft through one complete revolution.

Remove tool 1860863000 and turn crankshaft against direction of rotation until it reaches BDC of distributor piston. Zero dial gauge in this position.
