Removing

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

Position the vehicle on the ramp

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r

1. Disconnect the electrical connections from the starter motor.

2. Undo cover (2a) and disconnect the starter motor electrical connection (2b).

3. Undo the bolts (3a) and remove the starter motor (3b).

Removing

- 5530B56 BATTERY DRIP TRAY COVER - R.R.

Disconnect the battery's negative terminal.

1. Loosen collar (1a) and remove the sleeve from air cleaner to throttle body (1b).

2. Unscrew the starter motor upper bolt.

1.9 JTD 16v

Removing

- 1076B50 exhaust pipe attachment to engine - r + r

- 1008C30 power unit lower reaction link r r

- 1008C34 BRACKET ON GEARBOX FOR LOWER REACTION ROD - R.R.

1. Open the protective cover for the starter motor wiring.

2. Disconnect the starter motor wiring.

3. Release the electrical wiring from the securing bands.

4. Undo the bolts securing the starter motor to the bellhousing.

1.2 16v

Refitting

Refit the starter motor in its housing and fix it tightening the bolts to the recommended torque.

Connect the electrical connection for the starter motor and close the protective cover.

Connect the electrical connection to the starter motor.

Connect the battery negative terminal.

1. Open the protective cover for the starter motor wiring.

2. Undo the nuts (2a) and disconnect the starter motor electrical wiring (2b).

Release the electrical wiring from the securing bands.

3. Undo the starter motor's remaining bolts.

4. Remove the starter motor.

1. Remove the starter motor, passing it through the suspension crossmember and power unit.

Refitting

Fit the starter motor in its seating.

Secure the starter motor, tightening the bolts to the specified torque.

Connect the starter motor wiring.

Close the starter motor wiring protective cover.

Secure the hose from the air filter to the throttle body.

Connect the battery negative terminal.

1.9 JTD 16v

Refitting

Fit the starter motor in its seating on the bellhousing.

Tighten the bolts securing the starter motor to the bellhousing to torque.

Connect the starter motor wiring.

Close the starter motor wiring protective cover.
