INSTRUMENT PANEL - Functional description

Functional description

The ignition-operated power supply (INT) of the instrument panel E50 reaches pin 1 of connector A through the line of fuse F37 of the unit under the dashboard B2; the direct supply reaches pin 2 of connector A through the line of fuse F53 of the unit under the dashboard B2; pin 7 of connector A is earthed (earth controlled by the Body Computer M1 ).

The instrument panel E50 is connected from pins 3 and 4 of connector A to the Body Computer M1 and via the latter to the whole CAN network: via CAN the signal for the electronic speedometer arrives (coming from the ABS control unit M50 ): this signal is replicated from pin 37 of M50 to pin 7 of connector A of the Body Computer M1.

The electronic rev counter receives the rpm signal coming via CAN from the engine management control unit M10.

The fuel gauge is controlled in accordance with the signals coming from the fuel gauge sender unit located in the fuel pump assembly N40 - at pins 4 and 15 of the Body Computer M1, and from here via CAN to the instrument panel E50.

The brake pad wear warning light is controlled by a signal sent to pin 23 of connector B of body computer M1 from the approriate sensor K20.

The low brake fluid/handbrake applied warning light comes on through a signal from the handbrake switch I40, which reaches pin 24 of connector E of the Body Computer M1, or from the signal from the low brake fluid level sensor K25, which reaches pin 18 of connector A of M1.

All these signals are transferred via CAN to the instrument panel E50.

1.9 JTD 8v, 1.9 JTD 16v

Functional description

The engine oil level sensor K32 receives a supply from the panel E50 from pin 17 of connector B and sends the appropriate signal to pin 18.

2.4 20v

Functional description

The engine oil pressure sensor K28 is connected to the panel E50 at pin 1 of connector C.

The engine oil temperature sensor K29 is connected to the panel E50 at pin 2 of connector C.
