Tail Door Operation
With the vehicle unlocked, operation of the tail door handle trips a switch located in the handle housing.
An earth is connected by a black wire from the tail door switch (C616-1) to the earth header joint (C551-8). When the tail door switch is operated, an earth path is completed from the CCU (C428-23) to the switch (C616-2) by a black and orange wire. The CCU interprets the completion of the earth path as a signal to operate the tail door lock motor.
The CCU supplies a feed on a purple and blue wire to the tail door lock motor (C617-1). An earth is connected from the lock motor (C617-2) to the earth header joint (C551-8) by a black wire.
When the tail door handle is released, the earth path through the tail door switch is terminated. This signals the CCU to remove the feed to the tail door lock motor. The lock motor is spring loaded and returns to its de-energized condition ready for its next operation.
When the vehicle is CDL locked or superlocked, the CCU will not respond to operation of the tail door switch and therefore will not supply power to the tail door lock motor. This prevents the tail door from being opened when the vehicle is in a locked condition.
