Key locking
The vehicle can be locked and unlocked using the vehicle key. Only the driver’s door has an external door lock.
One single turn of the key towards the rear of the vehicle will centrally lock all doors and arm the alarm. If the key is turned a second time within one second of the first turn, then the vehicle will engage the superlocking facility.
Unlocking the driver’s door with the key initiates the emergency key access (EKA) procedure. The EKA feature permits a locked and armed vehicle to be unlocked and fully disarmed using the key. This feature must be used if the remote handset is not available or is inoperative. Refer to Anti Theft Alarm Description for EKA procedure.
Remote Handset locking
The remote handset transmits a coded radio signal when one of the two buttons is pressed. The signal from the handset is received by an alarm receiver and transmitted to the CCU. The alarm receiver is located at the top of the instrument pack.
The handset signals must be synchronized to the CCU. The synchronization will be lost if the power supply to the vehicle or the handset is removed. Synchronization can be reprogrammed by pressing the handset lock button five times in quick succession with the ignition off. Alternatively, the ignition can be switched to position II with the handset attached to the key ring, this will automatically reprogram the synchronization. This is achieved by means of a circular transponder antenna located around the outside diameter of the ignition switch, which prompts the transmitter to give a remobilization signal. For this to happen, the transmitter must be within 70 mm of the ignition barrel.
