Differential Draining and Filling (51.25.02)  

 
1.  

 
Raise and support the vehicle.  
 
 
2.  

 
Remove the differential case lubricant filler plug.  

 

 

 
3.  Drain the differential lubricant.  

 

 

 
4.  Install the lubricant drain plug.  

   CAUTION: Do not fill the differential with lubricant up to the filler plug. The filler plug is only used to fill 

the differentail with lubricant, and not to act as a level indicator.

   WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on 

safety stands.

   CAUTION: Do not undo or remove the large protruding hexagon on the differential casing.

Clean the area around the lubricant filler plug. 

 

 

l

Position container to collect fluid loss. 

 

 

l

Clean the area around the drain plug. 

 

 

l

Remove the fluid drain plug. 

 

 

l

Clean the drain plug. 

 

 

l

Tighten the drain plug to 54 Nm (40 lb.ft).
