Connecting the battery
  Caution
The instructions concerning the fastening of the terminals to the battery terminals must be followed → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrenches -SAT 8010-
  L00-10226
–  Fit the positive terminal -1- onto the battery's positive pole.
–  Fasten the positive terminal securing bolt -2- to the prescribed torque → Chapter.

–  Fit the negative terminal -3- onto the battery's negative pole.
–  Fasten the negative terminal's securing bolt -4- to the prescribed torque → Chapter.

Vehicles fitted with version 1 main fuse box:
–  Close the main fuse box -1- in the -direction of arrow B-.
–  Lock the main fuse box -1- press the grip -2- in -in the direction of arrow A-.

Vehicles fitted with version 2 main fuse box:
–  Fit the side clips of the main fuse box into the grooves -arrows- on the battery tray.

–  Move the main fuse box -2- down, until the clips fit into place -1-.
All vehicles (continued):
–  Carry out the instructions in the table.
Required steps after connecting the battery

Switch on ignition key: start and then switch off again. 
Interrogating fault memory: → Guided fault finding with VAS 5051 A. 
Clock: Check the time and set it if necessary 
Electric windows: Completely open and close all the windows; turn the switch to “Closed” position again and keep there until the control unit activates. 
Operating test: all electrical consumers
