  Note
t  Do not carry out repair work on the steering column.
t  Replace the self-locking nuts and screws.
t  Welding and straightening of the steering components is not allowed.
t  Steering columns are supplied as a spare part with ignition lock housing but without lock cylinder and ignition starter switch. The lock cylinder and ignition starter switch must be removed from the removed steering column or be obtained as a spare part.
t  After an accident and if the steering column is damaged replace the steering components Pos. 1 or 2 together with 6 and 7.

q   check for damage → Chapter
q   removing and installing → Chapter
2 - Steering column
q   rigid
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
q   check for damage → Chapter
q   removing and installing → Chapter
3 - 23 Nm
4 - 20 Nm + 90°
q   replace after each removal
5 - Steering gear
6 - Bushing
q   replace if damaged
q   removing and installing → Chapter
7 - 7 Nm
8 - 23 Nm
q   Observe the mounting sequence → Chapter
9 - Bearing bracket
q   removing and installing → Chapter
10 - 19 Nm
11 - 23 Nm
q   replace after each removal
q   on the RHD version, the screw is located on the left
12 - Frequency link
q   Removing and installing LHD version → Chapter
q   Removing and installing RHD version → Chapter
13 - Central pipe
14 - Front wall
15 - 25 Nm
