Removal

Position the vehicle on the ramp.

Ensure that the ignition key is in the stop OFF, then disconnect the battery negative terminal.

Component A1B Battery

1 Disconnect the electrical connection for the knock sensor.

Component K50 Detonation sensor - 1 1

1 Disconnect the electrical connection for the knock sensor.

Component K50 Detonation sensor - 1 1

Proceed with the removal See Op. 1072C44 Exhaust manifold heat shield on bulkhead - r+r .

Proceed with the removal See Op. 1080B62 Catalytic converter - r + r .

Proceed with the removal See Op. 1080B40 Catalytic pre-converter - r r .

Release the electrical wiring for the detonation sensor from the fastenings on the air chamber.

1 Undo the bolt 1a and remove the detonation sensor 1b.

Refitting

Place the detonation sensor back in its housing and fix it tightening the bolt to the recommended torque.

M8 – Knock sensor: (Engine crankcase side) 2.5 daNm

Secure the electrical wiring for the detonation sensor to the fastenings on the air chamber.

Proceed with the refitting See Op. 1080B62 Catalytic converter - r + r .

Proceed with the refitting See Op. 1080B40 Catalytic pre-converter - r r .

Proceed with the refitting See Op. 1072C44 Exhaust manifold heat shield on bulkhead - r+r .

Connect the electrical connection for the detonation sensor.

Connect the battery terminal (-).

Remove the car from the ramp.
