REAR FOG LAMPS NOT WORKING

The rear fog lights do not work when the button on the relevant switch unit is operated with the key ON and the dipped beams on.

STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
1INDIVIDUAL LIGHT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check the condition of the bulbs and associated bulb holder;Move on to Step1. Bulbs damaged

1. Change the bulbs

Op. 5540A74 BULB OF A SIDELIGHT OR FOG LAMP OR REVERSING LIGHT IN A TAIL-LIGHT, LH OR RH R R

2. Tail-light cluster fault

2. Replace or change the tail-light cluster

Op. 5540A44 L/H OR R/H TAIL LIGHT (ONE) - R+R

2REAR FOG LIGHT ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the following, in order:

  • Connections between battery, ignition switch, facia control unit, switch control unit;
  • Connections between stalk unit and switch control unit;
  • Connections between switch control unit and bulbs;
  • Stalk unit earth;
  • Bulb earth
Move on to Step1. Component defective1. Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow).

2. Repair the connections

3STEERING COLUMN SWITCH UNIT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check that an earth signal output is generated to the switch control unit when the stalk switch wheel is turned to dipped/main beam

Move on to StepStalk unit not working properly

Replace the steering column switch unit

4SWITCH CONTROL UNIT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION

Check the following, in order:

  • Correct power supply to switch control unit
  • Check that an battery voltage output is generated to control the rear fog light bulbs when the rear fog light button is activated
Move on to Step1. Power supply incorrect1. Switch control unit fault

2. Restore correct power supply

2. Change switch control unit
5CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer present
