SIDE LIGHTS/NO. PLATE LIGHTS NOT WORKING

When the stalk switch wheel is operated with the key ON, the side lights or number plate lights do not work

STEP	OPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUT	TEST RESULTS
1	INDIVIDUAL LIGHT CHECK	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check condition of the bulbs and associated bulb holder unit	Move on to Step	1. Front bulbs damaged	1. Change the bulbs Op. 5540B28 BULB (1) FOR FRONT TURN SIGNAL IN A HEAD LAMP (1), LH OR RH - R R
			2. Rear bulbs damaged	2. Change the bulbs Op. 5540A74 BULB OF A SIDELIGHT OR FOG LAMP OR REVERSING LIGHT IN A TAIL-LIGHT, LH OR RH R R
			3. Tail-light fault	3. Repair or replace the tail-light Op. 5540A44 L/H OR R/H TAIL LIGHT (ONE) - R+R
			4. Front light cluster fault	4. Repair or replace the front light cluster Op. 5540B10 EXTERIOR LIGHT DIMMER RESISTOR - R+R
			5. Number plate light fault	5. Repair or replace the number plate lights Op. 5540A94 L/H OR R/H NUMBER PLATE LIGHT (ONE) - R+R
2	SIDE LIGHT ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECK	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check the following, in order: side light fuses; connections between battery, engine bay control unit, ignition switch, stalk unit and underfacia junction unit; connections between underfacia junction unit and bulbs; bulb earth	Move on to Step	1. Component defective	1. Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow)
		Move on to Step	2. Connections interrupted	2. Repair the connections See E2010 SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS
3	STEERING COLUMN SWITCH UNIT CHECK	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check that a battery voltage output is generated to supply the side/number plate lights when the stalk switch wheel is operated with the key on. See E2010 SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS	Move on to Step	Stalk switch not working properly	Replace the steering column switch unit Op. 5550A12 COMPLETE STALK UNIT - R+R FOR VERSIONS WITH AIR BAG
4	IGNITION SWITCH CHECK	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check that a battery voltage is generated when the ignition key is turned on and more specifically to the stalk switch that supplies the side/number plate lights See E2010 SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS	Move on to Step	Fault in ignition switch	Repair or replace the ignition switch Op. 5520A12 IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - R R FOR VERSIONS WITH AIR BAG
5	UNDERFACIA JUNCTION UNIT CHECK	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check that a battery voltage output is generated from the underfacia junction unit to control the bulbs when the stalk switch wheel is operated with the key on See E2010 SIDE LIGHTS / NO. PLATE LIGHTS	Move on to Step	Fault in the underfacia junction unit	Repair or replace the underfacia junction unit
6	CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION	ALL OK	PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED	ACTION
	Check that the fault is no longer present
