  • unscrew the hexagonal socket screws (17) retaining to rear flange (18) plate (19) with mesh filters (20) that conveys coolant to delivery duct on the outer compressor case;
  • unscrew screws (21) that retain rear flange (18) to compressor case (22);
  • remove rear flange (18) from the rear of the rotor shaft (23) and withdraw the shaft and vanes, making sure that the vanes do not emerge from their seats;
  • unscrew the two hexagonal socket screws that fasten front flange (24) to the compressor case. The flange can be removed using two screwdrivers because it is guided by two centring pins.

Low pressure coolant (134a) from the evaporator enters the duct arrowed in the bottom figure on the previous page and flows through front flange (24) and ducts (25) to reach the central part of the case where it is compressed under the rotating action of rotor (23) with extending vanes. It then flows through the apertures arrowed in the bottom left hand figure to reach outlet valves (A). It then flows through ducts (arrowed in the bottom right hand figure) in rear flange (18) and conveyer plate (19) to the outlet duct on the outer compressor case.
