WARNING

All operations are to be carried out with the utmost care to avoid injuries to persons involved.

The engine compartment contains many parts in motion, components at high temperatures and live electric cables.

Scrupulously follow these precautions when operating on the engine compartment:

  • Switch off the engine and wait for it to cool.
  • Do not smoke.
  • Do not use naked flames.
  • Make sure there is a fire extinguisher nearby.

For some procedures the use of special tools is indicated. It is absolutely necessary to use these tools to ensure safety while operating.

Observe current workshop safety standards. Where necessary, special precautions to be taken are indicated in the Manual to prevent hazardous situations arising.

When using chemical products strictly observe the preventive instructions indicated on the safety sheet that the supplier must hand over to the user (for Italy in accordance with D.M. n. 47/1992).

CAUTION

All operations are to be carried out with utmost attention and care to avoid damage to the components.

To loosen parts tightly fitted together, knock lightly with an aluminium or lead hammer for ferrous materials; use a wooden or resin hammer for light alloy parts.

When disassembling, check that parts to be marked have the reference signs.

Appropriately protect the engine parts with adhesive paper or clean rags to prevent dust or other objects from getting inside when parts are removed.

When reassembling, lubricate the parts where necessary to avoid meshing or gripping when starting to operate.

When reassembling it is of fundamental importance to repect the torques and regulation data.

When reassembling always replace O-rings, oil seal rings, spring washers, safety plates, self locking nuts and all worn parts.
