- Introduction › B. Repair times and costs
- Why on the basis of which data gathered?
- – in both cases the warning light would not light up
- – the fault persists even using the other keys available
Having excluded the causes that do not explain the facts, it is necessary to reconsider each of the probable causes remaining:
- – keys not recognised
- – serial line
- – aerial
- – code ECU h/w
- – injection ECU h/w
In order to proceed further with diagnosis it is necessary:
- to possess specific knowledge of the vehicle system
- know how to consult the technical literature
- skilfully use the diagnosis tools and working equipment
You are reminded that the purpose of our action must be univocal identification of the cause of the fault and its definitive elimination.
B. Repair times and costs
The choice of the priority operations to be carried out should always be made following the criterion of the relationship between time and cost of the repair.
E.g. : replacing the injection control unit requires little time but the cost of the spare is very high.
Phase 3:
Approval test
After having repaired the car and running a road test, if necessary, the approval test should be carried out which should confirm that the problem has been eliminated before returning the car to the customer.
