Use of the diagnosis tables
Each table is divided into "STEPS".
In order to locate the cause of a problem in the shortest time possible, the various steps have been ordered according to a precise priority of checks on the basis of:
- rapidity in checking (accessibility) of determinate components before others;
- simplicity in performing determinate checks before others;
- statistic probabilities of determinate faults in a system;
- possibility of restricting the search to a small part of the system before carrying out deeper analysis.
Each step includes a check: this check is stated in the table itself, or, if it is complex, it is the subject of a TEST illustrated in the corresponding section. In other cases reference should be made to a wiring diagram, of the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
If the result of the check is positive ("ALL OK") the next step with which to proceed is indicated. If the check proves negative ("PROBLEMS NOTED") the type of action to be taken is indicated ("OPERATION"):
- repair procedure (see specific section)
- restore working conditions
- restore an electrical connection (see WIRING DIAGRAMS section)
At the end of each operation, check whether the action taken has been resolutive and if the symptom is no longer present. In this case the diagnosis procedure has ended and has led to locating and solving the problem.
If not, the fault is still present and it is therefore necessary to continue along the diagnosis procedure from the step indicated in "ALL OK".
