Flowchart diagram showing test results (OK, warning triangle, wrench icon) leading to outcomes: Problem Solved or Problem Not Solved, with intervention steps for error detected in control unit and failed conversation with the control unit. A second table section below shows interventions for incorrect connections and instrument not working.

At the end of the table, if the fault still has not been solved, you are suggested to return to the interview with the Customer / road test to locate another symptom from which to start seeking in another table.

ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSIS TOOLS

The diagnosis apparatus (Examiner or other instruments) which can be connected to the diagnosis socket of the vehicle are vital to the diagnosis procedure as they make it possible to rapidly and precisely identify the component causing an anomaly, or in any case make it possible to exclude a series of other causes. Thus the use of this apparatus is often indicated at the start of the diagnosis table.

“NAVIGATION” TOWARDS THE OTHER SECTIONS

The “DIAGNOSIS” section however, is not sufficient for a correct diagnosis procedure: often it is necessary to “navigate”, also consulting other sections of the manual:

  • Descriptions and operation: consulting this section allows the technician to make acquaintance with the system to be repaired, which is described with particular attention to service problems and behaviour in the event of a fault;
  • Procedures for repairs: to easily locate a disassembly or part replacement operation, as indicated in the diagnosis tables;
  • Tests: the diagnosis tables often suggest tests that can be performed on systems or installations of the car to check their efficiency and correspondence with the correct operating parameters;
  • Wiring diagrams: reference to this section, suggested by the diagnosis tables makes it possible to quickly check continuity, electric cables, cable routing, etc.., as well as obtaining detailed knowledge of the wiring diagrams.
