Description and operationRear Wiper and Washer
  • Moving the wiper switch down operates the ’flick’ wipe facility. If the switch is pushed down and quickly released, the wipers complete one cycle at slow speed. If the switch is held down, the wipers operate at fast speed until the switch is released. When the switch is released, the wipers complete their final cycle at slow speed.
  • A rotary switch controls the wiper operation. The ’O’ position is the off position. Rotation of the switch to position ’INT’ operates the intermittent function. Further rotation of the switch to position ’-’, operates the wipers at slow speed. Further rotation of the switch to position ’=’, operates the wipers at fast speed. When the switch is moved to the ’O’ position the wipers will complete the last cycle until they reach the park position.
  • A five position rotary potentiometer inboard of the wiper control switch, operates the intermittent wipe delay function. The five positions operate the wipers intermittently at time delays of approximately 3, 5, 8, 12 and 17 seconds.

Rear Wiper and Washer

The rear windscreen wiper is operated by a single electric motor located in the tail door. The wiper arm is attached to a spindle which is driven via a gimbal mechanism from the motor. Four connections supply power to the motor and the on/off screen sense switches. The functions of the rear windscreen wiper are monitored and controlled by the CCU. A relay, located on the right hand rear suspension turret, converts signals from the CCU to control the forward and reverse operation of the wiper motor. On/off screen sense switches prevent wiper operation when the rear windscreen is open. The switches also provide signal information for the CCU to provide the wiper park facility.
