The length of time that the windscreen washer pump and the windscreen wiper motor operate is proportional to the length of time that the washer switch is operated. The wipers use the park function switch to return to their park position.
Rear Wiper and Washer Operation
A feed from the battery positive terminal, via the alternator (C183-1), is connected by a red wire to the engine compartment fusebox (C574-1) and passes through fusible links 3 and 4 which are connected in parallel.
With the ignition switch in position II, a feed from the engine compartment fusebox (C571-2) is connected to the ignition switch (C028-3) by a brown and red wire. A feed from the ignition switch (C028-2) is connected to the passenger compartment fusebox (C588-2) by brown and white wire and passes through fuses 1, 2 and 3. A second feed from the ignition switch (C028-5) is also connected to the passenger compartment fusebox (C588-3) by a green wire where it passes through fuse 8.
A permanent feed from the engine compartment fusebox (C571-1) is connected, via fusible link 4, to the passenger compartment fusebox (C587-1) by a brown and white wire and passes through fuses 15 and 30.
Rear Wiper Function
When the rear wiper switch is pushed, an earth path from the CCU (C592-J), through the passenger compartment fusebox (C589-2) to the rear wiper switch (C079-1) is completed on a red and green wire. The earth path is connected by a black wire from the switch (C079-4), via a header joint and the passenger compartment fusebox (C589-15/C587-2), to an earth header joint (C018-3).
