COMPRESSOR ENGAGEMENT - DESCRIPTION

1.2 8v

DESCRIPTION

The special button (ice symbol), located on the climate control system control unit (automatic air conditioner) or pressing the fan speed adjustment wheel (manual air conditioner), controls the engagement of the air cooling and dehumidifying circuit, activating the air conditioning compressor.

The above buttons enable the operation of the air cooling circuit, but the actual compressor activation is also dependent upon the activation of:

  • the linear sensor, located on the refrigerant circuit, which stops the engagement of the air conditioning if the pressure of the refrigerant is too low or too high;
  • the engine management control unit which, depending on the engine management logic, excludes the operation of the compressor, for example in the case of high engine coolant temperature or high engine loads (sharp acceleration).

For further details,

See descriptions 5040 AIR CONDITIONING CASING AND COMPONENTS

The compressor supply circuit is controlled by a specific relay and protected by a specific fuse both located in the engine compartment junction unit.

1.3 Multijet

DESCRIPTION

The special button ("ice symbol"), located on the climate control system controls (automatic air conditioning) or by pressing the fan speed adjustment ring nut (manual air conditioning), controls the engagement of the air cooling and dehumidifying circuit, activating the air conditioning compressor.

The above controls enable the operation of the air cooling circuit, but the actual compressor activation is also dependent upon the activation of:

  • the linear sensor, located on the refrigerant circuit, which stops the engagement of the air conditioning if the pressure of the refrigerant is too low or too high;

The compressor supply circuit is controlled by a dedicated relay and protected by a dedicated fuse both located in the engine compartment junction unit.
