VACUUM PUMP

Function

The vacuum pump provides the necessary vacuum for operating the following components:

  • exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR)
  • exhaust gas recirculation valve pneumatic capsule
  • throttle solenoid valve (EGR)
  • brake servo (depending on the version).

Description

The vane type vacuum pump is operated directly by the camshaft.

A safety valve incorporated in the pump insulates the brake servo circuit with the engine switched off. The safety valve makes it possible to keep a vacuum reserve in the brake servo for braking several times.

Location

The vacuum pump is located on the cylinder head, at the end of the camshaft, gearbox side.
