EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR)
Function
The exhaust gas recirculation valve controls the quantity of exhaust gases recycled.
The exhaust gas recirculation device (EGR) makes it possible to reduce the amount of nitrogen oxide (NOx) given off by the exhaust, thanks to the partial re-intake of exhaust gases into the cylinders.
The recirculation stages are stored in the injection control unit memory.
Description
WARNING When the pneumatic capsule is not pneumatically operated, the recirculation valve is closed and recirculation does not take place.
Operating stages with pneumatic capsule operated by vacuum:
- the exhaust gas recirculation valve opens
- some of the exhaust gases are absorbed by the engine (intake air distribution).
Location
The exhaust gas recirculation valve is located on the air flow rate hose.
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION ADJUSTMENT SOLENOID VALVE (EGR)
Function
The solenoid valve controls the opening of the exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR).
Description
The solenoid valve places the vacuum pump in contact with the exhaust gas recirculation valve capsule.
The operation of the solenoid valve is the "completely closed" or "completely open" type and is managed by a map (injection control unit).
The solenoid valve is subject to the following elements:
- atmospheric pressure
- vacuum supplied by the vacuum pump.
Electrical specifications
Operation: injection control unit (earth):
- full supply (maximum DC) = maximum vacuum
- no supply (minimum DC) = no vacuum (atmospheric pressure).
- resistance at 25 °C: 40 Ohm.
