Function
In addition to the recirculation valve, the throttle, depending on its position, improves the recirculation of the exhaust gases. The operation of the throttle is gradual and depends on the signal coming from the injection control unit.
WARNING The throttle is open if it is not pneumatically operated.
Location
The valve is located on the EGR meter.

EGR THROTTLE SOLENOID VALVE
Function
The adjustment solenoid valve controls the closing of the EGR throttle.
Description
The operation of the solenoid valve is the variable tension type (DC - Duty Cycle).
The solenoid valve is connected to the following elements:
- atmospheric pressure
- vacuum supplied by the vacuum pump.
The pressure supplied by the solenoid valve is between atmospheric pressure and the vacuum pump vacuum.
The solenoid valve places the vacuum pump in contact with the EGR valve throttle:
- the higher the vacuum, the more the throttle closes;
- the weaker the vacuum, the more the throttle opens.
Electrical specifications
Operation: injection control unit (earth)
Variable voltage operation (DC - Duty Cycle):
- full supply (maximum DC) = maximum vacuum
- no supply (minimum DC) = no vacuum (atmospheric pressure).
Location
The solenoid valve (8) is fastened to the upper wall of the engine compartment.
