ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP
- Electrical connectors
- Fuel supply
- Fuel inlet
The pump is housed inside the tank in a special container with a gauze filter for the fuel on the inlet side. The pump used in this system is the turbine type with a plastic impeller designed to run on either leaded or unleaded petrol. Inside it houses a one-way valve and an excess pressure valve calibrated at a value of 2.6 bar.
The nominal capacity of the pump measured at an operating pressure of 1 bar is 90 l/h.
The pump is supplied directly by the electronic control unit, in order to ensure:
- the cut out of the pump if the engine goes below a minimum speed;
- the timed go ahead (for a duration of around 15 s) of the pump each time the ignition is turned to the ON position without the engine being started up;
- the go ahead to operate during driving or when the engine is started up.
FUEL FILTER
- Arrow indicating fuel direction
The filter is inserted in the fuel supply pipe. It is made up of an aluminium outer casing and an internal polyurethane support which supports a high filtering capacity paper element.
The filter is located near the fuel tank.
NOTE There is an arrow (1) on the outer casing of the filter which indicates the direction of the fuel and therefore the correct way the filter should be fitted.
The fuel filter must be replaced every 30,000 km.
